The papers addresses a mathematically rigorous procedure for the transition from the full three-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation for bosonic condensates with long-range interaction to limit forms corresponding to the effectively one- and two-dimensional settings, under the action of strong transverse confinement. The equations with the reduced dimensions are derived with the help of averaging in the tightly-confined direction(s) and semiclassical approximation.
