The author studies the concept of a universal series; a series of functions with a very `bad' divergence behaviour: for quite a number of different functions there are sets in the plane on which a subsequence of the original series is divergent. Replacing partial sums of Taylor series by sets of Padé approximants leads to a very interesting situation: generically every function in \(H(\Omega)\) can be approximated by some of its Padé approximants and, simultaneously, these approximants achieve universal Padé approximation of any rational function outside of \(\overline{\Omega}\). The layout of the paper is as follows: \S1 Introduction \S2 Preliminaries \S3 Main results The results are given in three theorems. It is outside the space for a review to formulate these explicitly; without explanation of the notations and concepts used, the mere copying of the text does not give more insight. \S4 Applications \S5 A sufficient condition References (15 items)
