Let \(\Omega\subset\mathbb C^d\) be a bounded convex domain with \(\mathcal C^{\infty}\) smooth boundary. We define the \textit{limit set} of \(\Omega\), denoted by \(\mathcal L(\Omega)\), to be the set of all points \(x\in\partial\Omega\), where there exists some \(p\in\Omega\) and some sequence \((\varphi_n)_{n\in\mathbb N}\) of holomorphic automorphisms of \(\Omega\) such that \(\varphi_n(p)\longrightarrow x\). Moreover, for \(x\in\partial\Omega\) let \(T_x^{\mathbb C}\partial\Omega\subset\mathbb C^d\) be the complex hyperplane tangent to \(\partial\Omega\) at \(x\). Then the \textit{closed complex face} of a point \(x\) is the closed set \(\partial\Omega\cap T_x^{\mathbb C}\partial\Omega\). The main result of the paper under review is the following theorem. Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded convex domain with \(\mathcal C^{\infty}\) smooth boundary. Then the following are equivalent: (i) \(\mathcal L(\Omega)\) intersects at least two closed complex faces of \(\partial\Omega\), (ii) \(\Omega\) is biholomorphic to a polynomial ellipsoid, i.e., the domain \[ \{(w,z)\in\mathbb C\times\mathbb C^d:|w|^2+p(z)<1\}, \] where \(p:\mathbb C^d\longrightarrow\mathbb R\) is a weighted homogeneous balanced polynomial, i.e., \[ p(z_1,\dots,z_d)=\sum_{\mathrm{wt}_m(\alpha)=\mathrm{wt}_m(\beta)=1/2}C_{\alpha,\beta}z^{\alpha}\bar z^{\beta}, \] where \(m=(m_1,\dots,m_d)\in\mathbb Z_{>0}^d\) and \(\mathrm{wt}_m:\mathbb Z_{\geq0}^d\longrightarrow\mathbb Q\) is the associated weight function defined by \[ \mathrm{wt}_m(\alpha):=\sum_{j=1}^d\frac{\alpha_j}{2m_j}. \]
