For a bounded domain \(D\) in \(\mathbb C^d\) let \(K_D\) (resp. \(k_D\)) denote the Kobayashi distance (resp. the Kobayashi-Royden metric) and let \[ M_D(r)=\sup\bigg\{\frac{1}{k_d(x,v)}:x\in D,\;\delta_D(x)\leq r,\;v\in\mathbb C^d,\;\|v\|=1\bigg\}, \] where \(\delta_D(x)\) is the distance of a point \(x\) to the boundary \(\partial D\). A bounded domain \(D\subset\mathbb C^d\) is called a \textit{Goldilocks domain} if (1) there is \(\varepsilon>0\) such that \[ \int_0^{\varepsilon}\frac{1}{r}M_D(r)\,dr<\infty, \] (2) for each \(x_0\in D\) there are constants \(C,\alpha>0\) such that \[ K_D(x_0,x)\leq C+\alpha\log\frac{1}{\delta_D(x)},\quad x\in D. \] The main results of the paper under review are the following. 1. Let \(D\subset\mathbb C^d\) be a Goldilocks domain and let \(\lambda\geq1\), \(\kappa\geq0\). If \(\xi,\eta\in\partial D\) and \(V_{\xi},V_{\eta}\) are neighborhoods of \(\xi,\eta\) in \(\overline D\) such that \(\overline{V}_{\xi}\cap\overline{V}_{\eta}=\emptyset\), then there exists a compact set \(K\subset D\) with the following property: if \(\sigma:[0,T]\longrightarrow D\) is \((\lambda,\kappa)\)-almost geodesic with \(\sigma(0)\in V_{\xi}\) and \(\sigma(T)\in V_{\eta}\), then \(\sigma\cap K\neq\emptyset\). 2. Let \(D\) and \(G\) be bounded domains in \(\mathbb C^d\). Suppose \(D\) is pseudoconvex with \(\mathcal C^2\)-smooth boundary and \(G\) is a Goldilocks domain satisfying an interior-cone condition. Then any proper holomorphic map \(f:D\longrightarrow G\) extends continuously on \(\overline D\). 3. Let \(D\) be bounded domain in \(\mathbb C^k\) such that \((D,K_D)\) is a proper geodesic Gromov hyperbolic metric space. Let \(G\subset\mathbb C^d\) be a Goldilocks domain. If \(f:(D,K_D)\longrightarrow(G,K_G)\) is a continuous quasi-isometric embedding, then there exists a continuous extension \(\tilde f:D\cup D(\infty)\longrightarrow\overline G\). 4. Let \(G\subset\mathbb C^d\) be a taut Goldilocks domain. If \(f:G\longrightarrow G\) is a holomorphic map, then either (a) for any \(x\in G\) the orbit \(\{f^n(x):n\in\mathbb N\}\) is relatively compact in \(G\), or (b) there exists \(\xi\in\partial G\) such that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}f^n(x)=\xi\) for any \(x\in G\), and this convergence is uniform on compact subsets of \(G\). 5. Let \(G\subset\mathbb C^d\) be a Goldilocks domain such that \((G,K_G)\) is Cauchy complete. If \(f:G\longrightarrow G\) is 1-Lipschitz map with respect to the Kobayashi distance, then either (a) for any \(x\in G\) the orbit \(\{f^n(x):n\in\mathbb N\}\) is relatively compact in \(G\), or (b) there exists \(\xi\in\partial G\) such that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}f^n(x)=\xi\) for any \(x\in G\), and this convergence is uniform on compact subsets of \(G\).
