In the theory of ideals of linear and multilinear operators, several classical classes of linear operators have been generalized since its definitions between the 1950s and 1980s. We can quote the classes of nuclear, \(\sigma\)-nuclear and \(\tau\)-summing linear operators: for instance, the third one was generalized (by the second author of this paper) to the ``\(p\)-sense'' and multilinear framework, giving rise to the class of \(\tau(p)\)-summing \(n\)-linear operators. In this relevant paper, the authors generalize the class of \(\sigma\)-nuclear operators defining a new class of \(\sigma(p)\)-nuclear linear and multilinear operators, for \(p \geq 1\), that recovers the original linear class taking \(n=p=1\). A noteworthy fact is that this generalization also defines a new class of linear operators when \(p>1\). It is also proved that this class is a Banach multi-ideal and a simpler formula for the \(\sigma(p)\)-nuclear norm of finite type operators is presented. To characterize the class of operators that represent continuous linear functionals on the space of \(\sigma(p)\)-nuclear operators, the authors define another new class, namely the class of quasi-\(\tau(p)\)-summing \(n\)-linear operators, and prove that the Borel transform is an isometric isomorphism between the dual of the space of \(\sigma(p)\)-nuclear \(n\)-linear operators and the space of quasi-\(\tau(p)\)-summing \(n\)-linear operators, a new result even in the linear case. A Pietsch-type domination theorem for the class of quasi-\(\tau(p)\)-summing operators is also presented.
