The paper under review is devoted to characterizing the unconditional constants for the frame expansions, which play a key role in quantitative estimates problems where the subsets of a frame are involved, as well as the process of approximating a frame by using finite dimensional methods. First, it shows that all three unconditional constants of the frame expansions defined in the paper have a common upper bound \(\sqrt{\frac{B}{A}}\), where \(A\) and \(B\) are, respectively, the lower and upper frame bounds and, the value \(\sqrt{\frac{B}{A}}\) is optimal for all tight frames. Next, this paper obtains several equivalent conditions under which the frame expansions of spanning Bessel sequences admit unconditional constants \(1\), which classifies where signed frames, scaled frames (with scaling factors \(|a_i|\leq 1\)), and weighted frames can produce larger norms for the frame operator than the original frame. Finally, it gives analogs of the main result of this paper to the case of frame multipliers.
