The paper is concerned with the construction and attraction property of unstable manifolds for partial neutral functional differential equations of the form \[ \frac{\partial }{\partial t}F u_t=B(t) F u_t+\varPhi(t,u_t). \] Here, \(\{ B(t)\}_{t\in\mathbb{R}}\) denotes a family of linear operators defined on some Banach space \(X\) and generating an evolution family \(\{ U(t,s)\}_{t\geq s}\) with an exponential dichotomy on the whole line \(\mathbb{R}\), \(F: C([-r, 0], X)\to X\) is a bounded linear operator, and \(\varPhi: \mathbb{R}\times C([-r, 0], X)\to X\) is continuous and satisfies \[ \|\varPhi(t,\phi)-\varPhi(t,\psi)\|\leq \varphi(t)\|\phi-\psi\| \] for all \(t\in\mathbb{R}\) and all \(\phi, \psi\in C([-r, 0], X)\) where \(\varphi:\mathbb{R}\to(0,\infty)\) belongs to some \textit{admissible} function space. The general approach of the paper is a combination of the Lyapunov-Perron technique and the \textit{admissibility} of function spaces as used by the authors in [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., Ser. B 20, No. 9, 2993--3011 (2015; Zbl 1331.34141)] in order to discuss the existence of stable manifolds for differential equations under consideration.
