Let \(D\subset\mathbb C^n\) be a Kobayashi hyperbolic domain. We say that a sequence \((z_j)_{j=1}^\infty\subset D\) is uniformly discrete with respect to the Kobayashi distance \(k_D\) if \(\inf_{j\neq k}k_D(z_j,z_k)>0\). Let \(d(\cdot,\partial D)\) denote the Euclidean distance to the boundary of \(D\). In the case where \(D\) is bounded strongly pseudoconvex there are various estimates of the speed with which the sequence \((d(z_j,\partial D))_{j=1}^\infty\) tends to zero. The author shows that this is not longer true for unbounded strongly pseudoconvex domains. Let \(H:=\{z\in\mathbb C: \text{Re}z>0\}\), \(\varphi:H\longrightarrow\mathbb D\), \(\varphi(z):=\frac{1-z}{1+z}\) (\(\varphi\) is biholomorphic). The author constructs a uniformly discrete sequence \((z_j)_{j=1}^\infty\subset\mathbb D\) such that \(\inf_jd(\varphi^{-1}(z_j),\partial H)>0\).
