The authors study a piecewise expanding map in \(\mathbb{R}^m\), which is defined by an expanding similitude modulo a lattice. This transformation is called the rotational beta transformation in \(\mathbb{R}^m\), and extends the well-known notion of the beta-expansion to the higher-dimensional setting. As in the standard case, the ergodic properties of the transformation play an important role in understanding the corresponding numeration systems, and in particular one is interested in identifying the invariant measures. In the present paper the authors prove that their transformation has an absolutely continuous invariant measure equivalent to the Lebesgue measure, under the condition that the similarity ratio is at least \(m+1\) and under some (mild) assumptions on the fundamental domain. This improves upon earlier results which the same authors obtained for the case \(m=2\) in [J. Math. Soc. Japan 69, No. 1, 397--415 (2017; Zbl 1379.37010)]. The proofs use a result of \textit{T. Bang} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 2, 990--993 (1951; Zbl 0044.37802)] on Tarski's plank problem, together with geometric arguments on dissections of balls.
