In this paper, the authors deal with the Cauchy problem for the Constantin-Lannes equation, which is a shallow water wave model with moderate amplitude. For this equation, it follows from previous local well-posedness that the solutions depend continuously in their initial data in Sobolov spaces \(H^s(\mathbb R)\), for \(s>3/2\). The main theorem of the article shows that this dependence is not uniformly continuous. The proof of this result relies upon a method of approximate solutions and well-posedness estimates. Furthermore, the authors study the asymptotic behavior of strong solutions of the Constantin-Lannes equation in weighted \(L^p\) spaces. This study uses fairly technical estimates, due to higher degree nonlinearities in the equation.
