Lie--Rinehart algebras are an algebraic generalization of Lie algebroids, introduced by \textit{G. S. Rinehart} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 108, 195--222 (1963; Zbl 0113.26204)] in the context of differential forms for general commutative algebras. A pair \((A,L)\) is said to be a Lie--Rinehart algebra over a field \(K\) if \(A\) is commutative associative \(K\)-algebra and \(L\) is an \(A\)-module admitting a Lie algebra structure over \(K\) and an action of \(A\) by derivations, subject to some compatibility conditions. One may introduce the notion of a Lie--Rinehart bialgebra in a natural way, following the lines of \textit{V. G. Drinfel'd} [Sov. Math., Dokl. 27, 68--71 (1983); translation from Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 268, 285--287 (1983; Zbl 0526.58017)] and \textit{K. C.H. Mackenzie, P. Xu} [Duke Math. J. 73, No. 2, 415--452 (1994; Zbl 0844.22005)], who defined Lie bialgebras and Lie bialgebroids respectively. The present paper studies Lie-Rinehart bialgebra structures with \(K=\mathbb{R}\) or \(\mathbb{C}\), \(\mathfrak{g}\) a Lie algebra over \(K\), \(A=K[t]\) acted on by \(\mathfrak{g}\) by derivations and \(L\) the crossed tensor product of \(A\) and \(\mathfrak{g}\) formed using the chosen \(\mathfrak{g}\)-action. A complete classification is given in the case of \(\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}(2,K)\).
