This paper considers three different cohomology theories that have been used for obstruction theory, namely André-Quillen cohomology, Baues-Wirschling cohomology and Dwyer-Kan's \(({\mathcal S}_*,{\mathcal O})\)-cohomology. After identifying the objects to which these theories apply, and their coefficient systems, the authors proceed to unify the theories, giving natural isomorphisms between them under certain conditions. They then go on to identify the obstructions.
