On the normal cycles of subanalytic sets (Q532568)

The author gives an elementary proof of the existence of the normal cycle of a compact subanalytic set using techniques from o-minimal geometry. This result was originally obtained by \textit{M. Kashiwara} and \textit{P. Schapira} [Categories and sheaves. Grundlehren der Mathematischen Wissenschaften 332. Berlin: Springer (2006; Zbl 1118.18001)] and \textit{J. Fu} [Am. J. Math. 116, No. 4, 819--880 (1994; Zbl 0818.53091)] with methods from sheaf theorey resp. geometric measure theory. \textit{A. Bernig} [Isr. J. Math. 159, 373--411 (2007; Zbl 1119.37025)] presented an elementary proof using o-minimality. The paper of Nicolaescu closes a gap in the reasoning of Bernig. The article is well organized. It contains a nice historical overview of the result and appendices helpful for the reader.
