Let \(k\) be a field, \(k[x_{1},\dots ,x_{n}]\) be a polynomial algebra in \(n\) generators and let \(I\) be an ideal of \(k[x_{1},\dots ,x_{n}]\) generated by monomials. In this paper, the author shows that every monomial algebra (i.~e. of the form \(k[x_{1},\dots ,x_{n}]/I\)) can be realized topologically by a space called ``generalized Davis-Januszkiewicz'' space and can be thought of as a colimit over a multicomplex which is a combinatorial object generalizing a simplicial complex.
