The author studies the existence of time-periodic weak solutions of a three-dimensional viscoelastic system. A homogeneous three-dimensional body occupies a bounded domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^3\). The displacement \(\mathbf{u}(\mathbf{x},t) =(u_1(\mathbf{x},t),u_2(\mathbf{x},t),u_1(\mathbf{x},t))\) fulfils the equation of motion with Dirichlet boundary condition \[ \mathbf{u}(\mathbf{x},t)=\text{div}_x\mathbf{\sigma}(\mathbf{x},t)+ \mathbf{f}(\mathbf{x},t),\quad (\mathbf{x},t)\in \Omega\times \mathbb R;\;\mathbf{u}(\cdot,t)|_{\partial\Omega}=\mathbf{0}, \] where \(\mathbf{\sigma}=(\sigma_{ij})\) is the Piola stress tensor of the form \[ \mathbf{\sigma}=\mathbf{p}\left(\nabla\mathbf{u}(\mathbf{x},t)\right) -\int_0^\infty \mathbf{q}\left(\tau,\nabla\mathbf{u}(\mathbf{x},t-\tau)\right)\,d\tau. \] The integral kernel is assumed to be singular in the neighborhood of zero. The energy estimates in Sobolev spaces then have a fractional index. The existence of time-periodic solutions both to the problem for viscoelastic solid and liquid models is shown.
