This paper is devoted to considerations about dependencies between diffraction spectrum and dynamical spectrum for dynamical systems. The diffraction spectrum of \(\omega\) (as the carrier of the diffraction measure) lives on a subset of the dynamical spectrum. Under some assumptions, a pure point diffraction spectrum implies a pure point dynamical spectrum. The authors construct a random system of close-packed dimers on the line that have some underlying long-range periodic order and display the same type of phenomenon for a system with absolutely continuous spectrum. The paper consist of six sections. The first one is an introduction that presents the necessary preliminaries expressing the wide context of the problem. In Section 2 we have an example that shows how the pure point diffraction spectrum and the pure point dynamical spectrum fit together. In Section 3 we have the considerations about close-packed dimers on the line with random orientation for which the diffraction measure \(\widehat{\gamma}_h\) is presented. Basing on the results presented in this section, the next one presents the results for dimeric molecule shift (DMS) with its dynamical spectrum. This allows for concluding that the relation between the dynamical and the diffraction spectrum is reminiscent of the situation for the Thue-Morse sequence -- there exists some non-trivial point spectrum that is not reflected in the diffraction measure of the sequence. However, the missing spectral part of the Thue-Morse sequence is retrieved via the period doubling sequence and in Section 5 there is a demonstration that the analogous situation is also met for example given by the authors. In the last section we have a paper summary.
