The author studies cohomology of graph hypersurfaces of middle degree associated to certain Feynman graphs using the techniques of \textit{S. Bloch, H. Esnault} and \textit{D. Kreimer} [Commun. Math. Phys. 267, No. 1, 181--225 (2006; Zbl 1109.81059)]. Generalized zigzag graphs are introduced and it is shown that they are primitively log divergent. It is observed that the minimal nontrivial weight piece of the mixed Hodge structure associated to the cohomology of such graph hypersurfaces is Tate. The number of rational points is then counted. The behavior of graph hypersurfaces under the gluing of graphs is also discussed.
