Let \(\mathcal{A}\) be an~arbitrary hereditary abelian finitary (i.e. Hom- and Ext-spaces are finite sets) length (i.e. any object has a~finite Jordan-Hölder series) \(k\)-category, where \(k\) is a~finite field. With the category \(\mathcal{A}\) the authors associated the composition Ringel-Hall algebra \(\mathcal{C}(\mathcal{A})\) and the double Ringel-Hall algebra \(\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})\). Moreover using the Euler form on \(\mathcal{A}\) two Borcherds-Cartan matrices \(C_0\) and \(C\) are defined. With these matrices two Kac-Moody Lie algebras \(\mathfrak{g}(C_0)\) and \(\mathfrak{g}(C)\) are associated. It is proved that the composition algebra \(\mathcal{C}(\mathcal{A})\) is isomorphic to the quantized enveloping algebra of \(\mathfrak{g}(C_0)\). Moreover it is shown that the double Ringel-Hall algebra \(\mathcal{D}(\mathcal{A})\) gives a~realization of the quantized enveloping algebra of \(\mathfrak{g}(C)\). The set of dimension vectors of the indecomposable objects in \(\mathcal{A}\) is the union of the positive roots of \(\mathfrak{g}(C_0)\) and if \(\alpha\) is a~real root there is a~unique (up to isomorphism) indecomposable object in \(\mathcal{A}\) with the dimension vector \(\alpha\). The authors show how these results can be applied to the category \(\mathcal{A}=\mathcal{H}^{(\rho)}\) of semi-stable coherent sheaves of a~fixed slope \(\rho\) over a~weighted projective curve.
