In this article, the authors consider the estimation of exponential sums along the points of the reduction \(\bmod\, p^m\) of a \(p\)-adic analytic submanifold of \(\mathbb{Z}_p^n\). They extend Igusa's stationary phase method to this type of exponential sums, more precisely they show the existence of an asymptotic expansion for some oscillatory integrals which is controlled by the poles of a certain local zeta function. They also study the number of solutions of a polynomial congruence along the points of the reduction \(\bmod\, p^m\) of a \(p\)-adic analytic submanifold of \(\mathbb{Z}_p^n\). In addition, they attach a Poincaré series to these numbers, show the rationality of a such Poincaré series and obtain a bound for the number of solutions of the corresponding polynomial congruences. Thus, the authors sharpen some known results of the second author [Int. Math. Res. Not. 2009, No. 15, 2855--2898 (2009; Zbl 1183.11074)], mainly those connecting the poles of a certain local zeta function with the estimation of exponential sums and with the number of solutions of polynomial congruences along \(p\)-adic submanifolds.
