The present paper deals with \(G_2\) geometries with torsion (\(G_2T\)-structures). A \(G_2\)-structure can be built on \(M^7 = N^6\times S^1\), where \(N^6\) is an almost Hermitian manifold with a distinguished complex volume. A nilmanifold is a compact quotient of a nilpotent Lie group. In dimension 6, each nilpotent Lie algebra has a basis with rational structure coefficients and so [\textit{A.I. Mal'tsev}, Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 13, 9--32 (1949; Zbl 0034.01701), translated in Am. Math. Soc., Transl. 1951, No. 39 (1951)] the corresponding 1-connected group G admits a co-compact lattice \(\Gamma\). The case when \(N^6 = \Gamma -G\) with an SU(3)-structure that pulls back to an invariant SU(3)-structure on G is studied. Here is given a full classification of the half-integrable manifolds \(N^6\) and their SU(3)-structures s.t. \(M^7\) carries a \(G_2T\)-structure. Some examples when the Kähler form on \(N^6\) is an eigenform for the Laplacian are pointed out.
