This paper deals with the singular Dirichlet boundary value problem \[ u''+\lambda q(t)f(y(t))=0,\;t \in (0,1),\quad u(0)=u(1)=0, \] with \(\lambda>0\), \(q \in C((0,1),\mathbb{R}_+)\), \(\int_0^1 s(1-s)q(s)ds <\infty\). The following cases are considered when the nonlinear term \(f\) satisfies \(f\in C(\mathbb{R}_+,(\mathbb{R}_+)\), \(0<\lim_{u\to 0^+}\frac{f(u)}{u}<+\infty\), and either \(f_\infty:= \lim_{u\to +\infty}\frac{f(u)}{u}=+\infty\) or \(f_\infty=+\infty\). The author, using the global bifurcation theorem of \textit{P. H. Rabinowitz} [Rocky Mt. J. Math. 3, 161--202 (1973; Zbl 0255.47069)] and some results of \textit{H. Asakawa} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 47, No. 7, 4849--4860 (2001; Zbl 1042.34526)], establishes an existence result of an unbounded continuum of solutions bifurcating from each \((\mu_k,0)\), where \(\mu_k\) is the kth eigenvalue of corresponding linearized problem.
