Suppose \(f\in L_2[0,1]\) has the Fourier series with coefficients \(a_j\) and \(b_j\) while \(\{n_k\}\) is a sequence of positive integers. Consider the limit \(S_ff(x)=\limsup_N(N\log\log N)^{-1/2}\sum^N_{k=1} f(n_k x)\). In the first part of the paper [ibid. 97, No. 3, 257--264 (2002; Zbl 1017.60034)] the author proved that under Takahashi gap condition it holds \(S_f(x)\leq \sum_j\sqrt{a^2_j+b^2_j}\) a.e. In the present part of the paper he shows that the above upper bound in the law of the iterated logarithm is achieved for every function \(f\) with parallel Fourier coefficients and for suitably chosen sequences \(\{n_k\}\). [For part II see ibid. 98, No. 3, 245--258 (2003; Zbl 1026.60032).]
