The authors consider the first kind Wiener-Hopf equation \(K\phi =\int^{\infty}_{0}k(t-\tau)\phi (\tau)d\tau =f(t),\) \(t>0\), in the Sobolev space \(H_+^{-2\alpha,1}(R^+)\). Here the kernel \(k\in L_ 1(R)\) is assumed to satisfy the condition \({\mathcal F}k(\omega)=(\omega^ 2+1)^{-\alpha}[1+{\mathcal F}g(\omega)],\omega\in R\) where \(0<\alpha <1\), \(g\in L_ 1(R)\) and \(1+{\mathcal F}g(\omega)\neq 0\), \(\omega\in R\), \({\mathcal F}u(\omega)=\int u(t)e^{i\omega t}dt.\) They give a characterization of the operator K, its null space and range as well as explicit formulas for the solution. In this context some works concerned with this problem are to be mentioned: \textit{V. S. Rabinovich}, Teor. Funkts., Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 10, 48-56 (1970; Zbl 0206.412); \textit{M. I.
