      The authors consider the first kind Wiener-Hopf equation \(K\phi =\int^{\infty}_{0}k(t-\tau)\phi (\tau)d\tau =f(t),\) \(t>0\), in the Sobolev space \(H_+^{-2\alpha,1}(R^+)\). Here the kernel \(k\in L_ 1(R)\) is assumed to satisfy the condition \({\mathcal F}k(\omega)=(\omega^ 2+1)^{-\alpha}[1+{\mathcal F}g(\omega)],\omega\in R\) where \(0<\alpha <1\), \(g\in L_ 1(R)\) and \(1+{\mathcal F}g(\omega)\neq 0\), \(\omega\in R\), \({\mathcal F}u(\omega)=\int u(t)e^{i\omega t}dt.\) They give a characterization of the operator K, its null space and range as well as explicit formulas for the solution.
