The aim of this paper is to develop a computer-assisted approach to the study of ideal transforms of certain affine algebras. The algebras are derived from the symmetric algebra of a module, S(E), over polynomial rings, in the context of two long-standing conjectures. The interest lies in the fact that the modifications in question - primarily the bi-dual algebra of S(E) - is a factorial domain but is not known to be always Noetherian. By focusing on a restricted family of cases certain predictions about the structure and finiteness of the transforms can be made. Using symbolic computation packages, a method is suggested for obtaining the defining equations of the rings - which in turn are used to tests for finiteness - beyond the horizon of those predictions.
