Ample and spanned rank-2 vector bundles with \(c_ 2=2\) on complex surfaces (Q584330)

Pairs (X,E), where X is a complex projective smooth surface admitting an ample and globally generated rank-2 holomorphic vector bundle E with \(c_ 2(E)=2\) are classified. This completes previous classification results obtained under some extra assumptions [see e.g. the authors, Boll. Unione Mat. Ital., VII. Ser., A3, No.2, 225-230 (1989)]. The main point is the proof that there are no pairs (X,E) as above such that (X, det(E)) is a geometric conic bundle over a hyperelliptic curve of genus \(\geq 2\).
