Consider the system of differential equations \[ {du_n\over dt}+ i\,Lu_n= \varepsilon(\nu\,Lu_n+ u_n- d|u_n|^2 u_n),\quad n= 1,\dots, N,\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(Lu_n\) is defined by \(Lu_n:= N^2(u_{n+1}- 2u_n+ u_{n-1})\), \(0<\varepsilon\ll 1\), \(0< \nu\ll 1\), \(d\) is a complex-valued constant, and \(u_n= u_n(t)\) is a complex-valued function. The authors study the longtime behaviour of \((*)\) under the condition \(u_0\equiv u_1\), \(u_{N+1}\equiv u_N\) (chain of coupled oscillators with free ends). They prove that for sufficiently small constants \(\varepsilon\) and \(\nu\), the attractors of the system are the synchron cycle J\(u_1\equiv u_2\equiv\cdots\equiv u_N\equiv e^{-i\varepsilon ct}\), with \(c= \text{Im}(d)\) and two-dimensional invariant tori whose number increase with \(N\) and decrease with \(\nu\).
