This paper deals with the classification problem of structurable superalgebras. The first natural task in this area would be the classification of simple such superalgebras. There is a construction, described in section 1 of the present work, which starting from a structurable superalgebra gives a Lie superalgebra (the so called Allison-Kantor construction). The classification of simple finite-dimensional structurable superalgebras of classical type (that is such superalgebras whose Allison-Kantor Lie superalgebra is a Lie superalgebra of type \(A\), \(B\), \(C\), \(D\), \(P\) and \(Q\)) has been obtained in 2008, in a work by J. R. Faulkner (a preprint of the University of Virginia). So it is natural to focus the attention on finite-dimensional structurable superalgebras of Cartan type. In section 2 it is proved that if \(G\) is a simple finite-dimensional Lie superalgebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero such that \(G\not\cong A(0,1), B(0,1), B(0,2), C(3)\), then \(G\) appears by Allison-Kantor's construction from a structurable superalgebra with unit. In section 3, given any Lie superalgebra \(G\) of Cartan type the authors construct a simple non-Jordan structurable superalgebra \(\mathcal AG\) whose Allison-Kantor Lie superalgebra is isomorphic to \(G\), and investigate the structure of \(\mathcal AG\). If \(G\cong H(n)\) then it may be constructed also from \(G\) a simple Jordan superalgebra associated to a bilinear form if \(n=4\) and a simple Jordan superalgebra of Poisson-Grassmann brackets if \(n>4\). In section 4, the authors give a classification of the simple finite-dimensional structurable superalgebras of Cartan type over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. They prove that any such superalgebra is isomorphic to one of the superalgebras constructed in section 3. Thus, modulo Faulkner classification of structurable superalgebras of classical type mentioned above, the classification problem is closed in the simple finite-dimensional case over algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero.
