The author shows that one can delete the condition on parallel lines used in characterizing finite semiaffine spaces in [\textit{A. Beutelspacher, P. De Vito} and \textit{P. M. Lo Re}, Geom. Dedicata 54, No.~3, 255--261 (1995; Zbl 0835.51003)]. Furthermore, this result is extended to the infinite case.
