The title Symposium was devoted to the investigation of nonlinear instabilities in fully three-dimensional flows. Such instabilities arise, for instance, in aerodynamics (swept wings, engine nacelles), turbines, aort blood flows, and other flows of practical interest. Because the nonlinear interactions are very complex, fully numerical or combined asymptotic/numerical methods must be used to explain them. On the other hand, namely the complexity of the instability processes requires detailed and accurate experimental information in order to restrain the theoreticians from studying theoretically challenging but physically irrelevant phenomena. Thus the main aim of the Symposium was to cement the close relations between theoreticians and experimentalists working in this complex area of fluid mechanics. The forty papers presented by more than 70 participants are subdivided into nine chapters. Contents: 1. Behavior of oblique waves; 2. Görtler instability; 3. Instability and transition in swept-wing flows; 4. Nonlinear processes; 5. Direct numerical simulations and parabolized stability equation (PSE) approach; 6. Cross-flow instability; 7. Wall effects and stability modifiers; 8. Transition and instability in supersonic flows; 9. Receptivity. The articles of mathematical interest will be announced in MATH database.
