Here, several new oscillation theorems of Leighton type are established for the matrix differential system with damping \[ [P(t)Y']'+R(t)Y'+Q(t)Y=0,\tag{1} \] under the hypothesis \(P(t)=P^*(t)>0\); \(Q(t)=Q^*(t)\) and \(R(t)=R^*(t)\) are \(n\times n\)-matrices of real-valued continuous functions on the internal \([t_0,\infty)\). By \(M^*\) is meant the transpose of the matrix \(M\). The main result of this paper is given by the following theorem: If there exist a function \(f\in C^1[t_0,\infty)\), a positive function \(\phi\in C[t_0,\infty)\), and a positive linear functional \(g\) such that \[ \int^t\phi(s) \left\{\int^s\phi^2(u)a(u) g[P(u)]\,du\right\}^{-1}\,ds=+\infty, \] \[ \lim_{t\to\infty}g\left[\int^ta(s) D(s)ds-\frac{(aR)(t)}{2}\right]=+\infty, \] with \(a(t)=\exp(-2\int^t f(s)\,ds)\), \(D(t)=\left(M-\frac{RP^{-1}R}{4}\right)(t)\), \(M(t)=Q(t)+f^2P(t)-(fP)'(t)-(fR)(t)\). Then system (1) is oscillatory.
