Sublattices and standard congruences (Q5932474)

The authors with H. Lakser proved previously that, for every lattice \(K\) and nontrivial congruence \(\Phi \) of \(K\), there is an extension \(L\) of \(K\) such that \(\Phi \) is the restriction to \(K\) of a standard congruence on \(L\). In this note, they give a short proof of this result in a stronger form: the lattice \(L\) is constructed to be sectionally complemented and it has only one nontrivial congruence, the standard congruence.
