Symbolic dynamics for the Hénon-Heiles Hamiltonian on the critical level (Q5933467)

The Hénon-Heiles Hamiltonian presents a criticallity at the energy value 1/6, in the sense that for greater values of the energy there is an abrupt increase of the chaotic regions on the Poincaré section of the system. In this paper, it is shown with purely topological methods that for values of the energy in the interval \((1/6-\delta,1/6+\delta)\), for some positive \(\delta\), an invariant set \(S\) exists, with a rich symbolic dynamic structure and an infinite number of periodic orbits.
