The author studies sequence transformations which accomplish an acceleration of convergence or a summation in the case of divergence by detecting and utilizing regularities of the elements to be transformed. He establishes that irregular input data in convergence acceleration and summation gives several problems and describes and classifies some of these problems to discuss strategies to overcome them. In particular, he gives several general considerations and some special Gaussian hypergeometric series as model problems. Several numerical examples are given.
