This paper treats an initial-boundary value problem involving a scalar-viscous conservation law on the negative half line for which the corresponding Cauchy problem has a unique stationary viscous shock wave on \(\mathbb{R}\). The large time behavior of the solution under certain smallness conditions is studied using the weighted energy method; it is argued that the predicted large time behavior holds for a general smooth flux function under certain conditions provided that the shock is non-degenerate. The degenerate shock case is conjectured only. The paper may be of interest to someone working on conservation laws.
