Let \(\mu\) be a finite positive Borel measure whose support \(S(\mu)\) is a compact set contained in \(\mathbb{R}\), and \(\lambda\) be the the unit equilibrium measure of \(S(\mu)\) which solves a some extremal problem. For a function of Markov type \(\hat{\mu}(z)=\int_{S(\mu)} d\mu(x)/(z-x)\), \(z\in\mathbb{C}\backslash S(\mu)\), the authors consider multipoint Padé-type approximants. Let \(\{L_n\}\), \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), be a sequence of monic polynomials whose zeros lie in \(Co(S(\mu))\), the convex hull of \(S(\mu)\), \(deg > L_n=k(n)\leq n\), with the properties: \[ \limsup\limits_{n\to\infty}\frac 1n\sigma(L_n)\leq\lambda \] (in the weak star topology), where \(\sigma(L_n)\) denotes the zero counting measure of the polynomial \(L_n\); and \[ Z(L_n)\subset Co(S(\mu)), \] where \(Z(L_n)\) denotes the set of zeros of the polynomial \(L_n\). Let \(\{A_{2n}\}\), \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), be fixed another family of polynomials whose zeros \(\{\alpha_{n,i}\}\), \(n\in\mathbb{N}\), are contained in a compact set \(A\subset\overline{\mathbb{C}}\backslash Co(S(\mu))\) and lie symmetrically with respect to the real line. Suppose that there exists a measure \(\alpha\) (supp \(\alpha\subset A\)), such that \[ \frac 1{2n}\sigma(A_{2n})\to\alpha,\quad\text{as} >n\to\infty \] (in the weak star topology). Let \(\hat{p}_n=q_nL_n\), where \(q_n\) is a polynomial of degree \(n-k(n)\) satisfying the following conditions \[ 1=\left\| \frac{q_nL_n}{| A_{2n}| ^{1/2}}\right\| _2\leq\left\| \frac{(q_n+v )L_n}{| A_{2n}| ^{1/2}}\right\| _2 \] for all polynomials \(v\) satisfying \(deg >v<deg>q_n\). This paper deals with the problem of finding sufficient conditions on the measure \(\mu\), on the preassigned polynomials \(L_n\), and on the choice of the interpolation points (\(\alpha_{n,i}\), \(i=1,:,2n\), \(n\in\mathbb{N}\)) in order to have the exact rate for the asymptotic behavior of \(\hat{p}_n\) and \(r_n\).
