The continuity conditions at the endpoints of interpolation theorems, \(\|Ta\|_{B_{j}} \leq M_{j} \|a\|_{A_{j}}\) for \(j = 0,1\), can be written with the help of the approximation functional: \(\|E(t,Ta;B_{1},B_{0})\|_{L^{\infty}} \leq M_{0} \|a\|_{A_{0}}\) and \(\|E(t,Ta;B_{0},B_{1})\|_{L^{\infty}} \leq M_{1} \|a\|_{A_{1}}\). As a special case of the results we present here we show that in the hypothesis of the interpolation theorem the \(L^{\infty} \) norms can be replaced by \(BMO({\mathbb R}_{+})\) norms. This leads to a strong version of the Stein-Weiss theorem on interpolation with change of measure. Another application of our results is that the condition \(f \in L^{0}\), i.e. \(f_{*} \in L^{\infty} \), where \(f_{*}(\gamma) = \mu \{|f|>\gamma\}\) is the distribution function of \(f\), can be replaced by interpolation with \(L(p,q)\) spaces by the weaker \(f_{*} \in \text{BMO}(R_{+})\).
