Associated with an equiaffine immersion of codimension one into an affine space is the conormal map. In the present paper the authors define the corresponding conormal map in case of general codimension. They investigate whether this so called transversal volume element map \(\nu\) together with the affine metric \(\alpha\) (Blaschke metric) determines an equiaffine immersion \(f\). An existence- and uniqueness theorem for \(f\) is proved assuming certain conditions on \(\nu\) and \(\alpha\).
