    The paper deals with generalized Verma modules \(M_{\mathfrak p}(V)=U({\mathfrak g})\otimes_{U({\mathfrak p})}V\). Here \(\mathfrak g\) is a semisimple complex finite-dimensional Lie algebra with a fixed triangular decomposition \(\mathfrak g=\mathfrak n_{-}\oplus\mathfrak h\oplus\mathfrak n_{+}\), \(\mathfrak p\) is parabolic subalgebra of \(\mathfrak g\) with the Levi decomposition \(\mathfrak p=(\mathfrak a\oplus\mathfrak h_{\mathfrak a})\oplus\mathfrak n\), where \(\mathfrak n\) is nilpotent, \(\mathfrak a\) is semisimple and \(\mathfrak h_{\mathfrak a}\subset\mathfrak h\) is abelian and central in \({\mathfrak a}'=\mathfrak a\oplus\mathfrak h_{\mathfrak a}\). \(V\) is an \(\mathfrak a'\)-module such that \({\mathfrak V}=0\). The case of \({\mathfrak a}={\mathfrak sl}(2,\mathbb{C})\) is considered. With any module \(M_{\mathfrak p}(V)\) the authors associate a Verma module \(M(\mu)\) over the same algebra in a natural way. In case \(M_{\mathfrak p}(V)\) is induced from an infinite-dimensional simple module, the authors prove that \(M(\mu)\) is simple if and only if \(M_{\mathfrak p}(V)\) is simple.
