The book reports on the state of the art of deterministic resource constrained project scheduling with time windows. The book consists of three chapters. In Chapter 1 the definition of temporal project scheduling and some basic concepts are introduced. In addition to minimum time lags between project activities, maximum time lags are considered from the beginning. Chapter 2 is concerned with resource-constrained project scheduling with minimization of project duration and other regular objective functions. Chapter 3 is devoted to resource-constrained project scheduling with nonregular objective functions. Many objective functions that are important in practice are studied. For solving both project scheduling problems some exact and heuristic solution procedures are proposed and an experimental performance analysis is presented. Some interesting applications to production and operations management are studied. The monograph assumes a knowledge of elementary mathematical programming and some basic concepts from the theory of graphs and networks. It would be of interest to specialists in mathematical programming, operations research, as well as engineers using mathematical tools and optimization techniques.
