Problems concerning systems of differential equations admitting a nonlinear superposition principle are particularly interesting because the general solution to such systems can be expressed in terms of a set of fundamental solutions and a number of constants determining each particular solution in a homogeneous space. The authors study systems of differential equations admitting a nonlinear superposition characterized by Lie from a geometric perspective; in particular, they study the problem for the more general situation in which the general Lie group plays a role. The paper is organized in 9 sections, the main results being given in sections 5-8. In section 5, they introduce the group map \((R,G)\) and find two cocycles playing a relevant role in the theory. A reduction method associated with a subgroup is described in section 6. They show how it is possible to reduce the problem of finding the general solution to such differential systems defined by a Lie group \(G\) to a pair of simpler problems, one in a subgroup \(H\) and the other on a homogeneous space. In sections 7 and 8, the theory is illustrated with several examples and generalizations.
