The authors prove that the natural neighbor coordinates of a point belonging to a smooth surface tends to behave as a local system of coordinates on the surface when the density of points increases. The proof is based on the fact that a subset of the vertices of the Voronoi diagram of the data points belonging to the smooth surface converges towards the medial axis of the surface when the sampling density increases.
