The author offers an improvement on the inequality \(0\leq 1/(xy)-B(x,y)\leq 1/4\), \(x\geq 1, y\geq 1,\) presented by \textit{S. S. Dragomir, R. P. Agarwal}, and \textit{N. S. Barnett} [J. Inequal. Appl. 5, No. 2, 103-165 (2000; Zbl 0948.26011)], by showing that, while \(0\) on the left side is the best possible constant, the 1/4 on the right is not; the best constant there is \(\max_{x\geq 1}(x^{-2}-B(x,x)) \sim 0.08731\dots \). Here, of course \(B(x,y)=\Gamma(x)\Gamma(y)/\Gamma(x+y).\)
