The problem of transverse vibrations of a stretched string generated by longitudinal excitation is considered. For the mathematical analysis presented in this work problems for that inertial term for longitudinal vibrations is not neglected, which implies the existence of parametrically induced periodic solution for systems of nonlinearly coupled partial differential equations. NEWLINENEWLINEThe problem belongs to the following general class of problems for operator equations in a Banach space: \(Lq=\lambda H+\gamma Bq+ F(q,x)\), where \(L\) is a Fredholm operator with two-dimensional kernel, \(H\) is identity operator, \(Bq(x)=q'(x)\) is a linear operator, \(F\) is a homogeneous operator with an order homogeneity equal to \(3\), and \(\lambda\) is a special parameter. The solution technique is based on the work of \textit{M. M. Vainberg} and \textit{V. A. Trenogin} [Theory of branching of solutions of nonlinear equations. Noordhoff International Publishing, Leiden (1974; Zbl 0274.47033)].
