Let \(D\) be one of the three real division algebras, \({\mathbf R}, {\mathbf C}\) or \({\mathbf H}\); let \(V\) be a non-degenerate Hermitian space over \(D\). Suppose that \(V=V_{+\oplus}V_{0\oplus}V_-\) where \(V_+\) and \(V_-\) are isotropic, of dimension \(n\) and \(V_0\) is non-degenerate and orthogonal to \(V_{+\oplus}V_-\). Let \(k=\dim_{\mathbf R}(V).n\). Then the authors show that there is an intertwining operator from a Weil or oscillator representation of \(Sp_{2k} ({\mathbf R})\) and an outer tensor product of degenerate principal series representations of the isometry group of \(V\) and that of \(W=D^n\times (D^n)^*\) (with the natural skew-Hermitian form). This is done by means of a zeta-integral of the type introduced by Godement and Jacquet. They then investigate in detail for the various dual reductive pairs that can arise in this way, what the consequences are for the local theta correspondence.
