    Multifractal formalism for self-similar functions associated to contractive similitudes has been established by \textit{I. Daubechies} and \textit{J. C. Lagarias} [Rev. Math. Phys. 6, No.~5a, 1033-1070 (1994; Zbl 0843.58091)] and by \textit{S. Jaffard} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 28, No.~4, 944-970 (1997; Zbl 0876.42021); ibid. 971-998 (1997; Zbl 0876.42022)]. In this paper, the author considers the self-similar function \(F\) satisfying the equation \[ F(x) = \lambda_0 F(2x) + \lambda_1 F(2x-1) + \Lambda(x) \quad \text{ for } \;x \in [0, 1], \] where \(0< |\lambda_0|< 1\), \(0 <|\lambda_1|< 1\) and \(\Lambda(x) = \min(x, 1-x)\) for \(x \in [0, 1]\) and 0 elsewhere. He gives a detailed analysis of the local Hölder exponents and spectrum of singularities of \(F\) and checks when \(F\) satisfies the multifractal formalism. Specifically, Theorem 1 determines the exact values of the local Hölder exponents of \(F\), which shows that the Hölder exponent of \(F\) at \(x\) not only depends on \(\lambda_0\) and \(\lambda_1\), but also on the rate of approximation of \(x\) by dyadics. Theorem 2 gives the spectrum of singularities, i.e., \(d(\alpha) = \dim \{x: \alpha(x) = \alpha\}\) for \(F\). Finally, Theorem 3 answers the question when the multifractal formalism holds for \(F\).
