Motivated by the minimum density problem for lattice-simplex coverings, the authors consider the fraction \(f(\lambda)\) of \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\) which is covered by \(L+\lambda S\), where \(L\) is a lattice and \(S\) is a fixed simplex. In the main result \(f(\lambda)\) is expressed as a certain sum, extended over all configurations with diameter less than \(\lambda \). Here, a configuration \(C(A)\) is the translation-equivalence class of a finite subset \(A\) of the lattice \(L\), and the diameter of \(C(A)\) is defined to be the smallest real \(\rho \) such that some translate of \(\rho S\) contains \(A\).
