Weak corings (Q5958858)

Let \(A\) be an associative algebra with unit. The author introduces the concept of a weak \(A\)-coring, where the left and the right structure of module of the coring need not to be unital. The theory of weak corings is related with the weak entwined structures introduced by \textit{S. Caenepeel} and \textit{E. de Groot} [Contemp. Math. 267, 31-54 (2000; Zbl 0978.16033)]. The theory of weak comodules over a weak coring is developed. The case when the given algebra is a comodule is considered and related to the Galois theory of corings. As in the theory of coalgebras, the dual algebra associated to corings is investigated. Finally, a characterization of weak bialgebras, introduced by \textit{G. Böhm, F. Nill} and \textit{K. Szlachányi} [J. Algebra 221, No. 2, 385-438 (1999; Zbl 0949.16037)], in terms of related weak corings is given.
