The authors consider a one-dimensional model of isothermal flows with liquid-vapor phase transition in Lagrangian coordinates. Pressure \(p\) depends monotonically on the amount of vapor \(\lambda\) and the specific volume \(v\), and \(p_{vv}>0\). The authors study waves appearing in such systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions (inequalities for the wave speed) for collapsing waves to exist are proved. Existence and non-existence conditions for the explosion waves are found. Numerical experiments study the stability of the waves. The Riemann problem for the considered model is studied in the vanishing-viscosity limit.
