Let \(G\) be a finite group. The authors generalize two classical results. First, the theorems of Hall and Chunikhin concerning existence of a Hall \(\pi\)-subgroup and conjugacy of two Hall \(\pi\)-subgroups are generalized as follows: if the group \(G\) has an ascending series \(H_i\) of length \(t+1\) and a descending supplement series \(T_i\) (in the sense that respective terms are supplements to each other) such that \(H_i\) is permutable with every Sylow subgroup of \(T_i\) and every maximal subgroup of every Sylow subgroup of \(T_i\) for all \(i\), the index \(|H_{i+1}:H_i|\) is either a \(\pi\) or a \(\pi'\)-number then \(G\) has a Hall \(\pi\)-subgroup and a Hall \(\pi'\)-subgroup, and if \(t=2\) then any two Hall \(\pi\)-subgroups are conjugates. Next, the Schur-Zassenhaus theorem, stating that a normal Hall \(\pi\)-subgroup \(H\) has a complement, and any two complements are conjugates, is generalized, besides the same conclusion, by omitting normality of \(H\) and requiring that \(H\) be permutable with every Sylow subgroup and every maximal subgroup of every Sylow subgroup of a minimal supplement to \(H\). Moreover, even more general versions of these two theorems, and a new criterion of \(p\)-supersolvability are established. The research is part of a series of papers by the authors and \textit{K. P. Shum}, a recent one is [Algebra Colloq. 15, No. 2, 185-192 (2008; Zbl 1161.20018)].
