As one of the main theorems, the author prove that for \(G\) an exponetial solvable Lie group with \(\mathfrak G\) its Lie algebra, the Brown-Pedersen real rank of the group \(C^*\)-algebra \(C^*(G)\) of \(G\) is equal to the real dimension of the Lie algebra quotient \(\mathfrak G/ [\mathfrak G, \mathfrak G]\) of \(\mathfrak G\) by its commutator ideal \([\mathfrak G, \mathfrak G]\), and as well its complex analogue for the Rieffel stable rank is obtained as in the paper of \textit{T. Sudo} and \textit{H. Takai} [J. Oper. Theory 38, No. 1, 67--86 (1997; Zbl 0892.46074)]. Among its details, the proof uses the fact that there exists a finite composition series of closed ideals of \(C^*(G)\) with subquotients of continuous trace, cf. [\textit{B. N. Currey}, Math. Nachr. 159, 189--212 (1992; Zbl 0781.22005)]. On the other hand, they obtain another result on open coadjoint orbits in the orbit space of the real dual space \(\mathfrak G^*\) of \(\mathfrak G\) by the coadjoint action of \(G\), where each open coadjoint orbit corresponds to a closed ideal of \(C^*(G)\) that is isomorphic to the \(C^*\)-algebra of compact operators, which contains non-trivial projections, in the case that \(G\) is an exponential solvable Lie group, such as the real \(ax-b\)-group. For the simply connected nilpotent case, see \textit{T. Sudo} [Tokyo J. Math. 19, No. 1, 211--220 (1996; Zbl 0866.22010)]. For a comparison, the readers may also refer to [\textit{T. Sudo}, Kyungpook Math. J. 48, No. 2, 223--232 (2008; Zbl 1160.46035); J. Korean Soc. Math. Educ., Ser. B, Pure Appl. Math. 17, No. 4, 333--340 (2010; Zbl 1234.46045); Int. J. Pure Appl.
